TEHRAN, Iran/ISTANBUL, Jun. 27 (AA) – Iran has not made any decision to initiate nuclear talks with the US, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Thursday in an interview with Iranian state television.

Araghchi noted that Tehran was engaged in negotiations with the US when Washington backed an Israeli attack on Iran and then eventually launched its own direct airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

“In the recent negotiations, they tried to lure us into giving up the rights of our nation. When some certain events occurred, they imposed war and unleashed the criminal Zionist (Israeli) regime to carry out attacks,” he said.

Araghchi added that the US betrayed diplomacy during talks, an experience that will shape Iran’s future decisions on negotiations.

“Nevertheless, diplomacy continues, and I am in contact with several foreign ministers,” he said.

Responding to US President Donald Trump’s claim of a planned meeting with Iran next week, Araghchi dismissed it.

“There are no arrangements for any fresh round of indirect talks with the US so far. Their statements are full of contradictions,” he told state television.

A 12‑day conflict between Israel and Iran erupted on June 13 after Israel launched air strikes on Iranian military, nuclear and civilian sites, killing at least 606 people and injuring 5,332, according to Iran’s Health Ministry.

Tehran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Israel, killing at least 29 people and wounding more than 3,400, according to figures released by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The conflict came to a halt under a US-sponsored ceasefire that took effect on June 24.
